Bill LLoyd Bill Lloyd has been the Seawolves squash coach for the past twelve seasons. A 1981 graduate of Tabor and former #1 player and captain, he has helped maintain a strong tradition of winning teams and he has coached numerous players who have gone on to play at the highest level of competition in college. The boys he has coached are always a diverse group, with both experienced players and those new to the sport, as well as a number of international team members. The Class B National High School Team Champions in 2007, Tabor has a rich history in New England prep school squash.
Bill is also a math teacher, college counselor, assistant varsity baseball coach, and he lives in Baxter dormitory with his wife and two sons. He would be happy to discuss the Tabor squash program and can be reached at wlloyd@taboracademy.org. |

Season Summary 2007 – 2008 -
The boys' squash team ended their season in exciting fashion. Before heading off to the Interscholastic Tournament, they traveled to Newport for their final regular season match against St. George’s. Everyone knew this one would go down to the wire and it certainly did. With impressive wins by Vir Seth, Miles Brewer, and Chris Cunningham, the Seawolves only needed one more positive outcome to seal the victory. However, St. George’s stormed back with wins at #’s 1, 4, and 6 to even the score. It all came down to Amay Merchant at #2 and he gutted out a 3 – 2 win to send the Seawolves home happy and primed for the weekend. Next up was the culmination of their season – the Class A New England Interscholastic Tournament. With the top sixteen teams in New England competing, the boys knew that it would require their best effort. The boys came out firing on all cylinders and established themselves as legitimate contenders in four of the seven flights. Amay Merchant won three straight matches to make it to the finals of the #2 flight before losing a closely contested match to a very talented boy from Exeter. Vir Seth pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament, knocking off a highly seeded player from Brunswick School, the most dominant team in New England the past eleven years. Vir’s win would be huge as Brunswick could not defend their title, losing as a team by the narrow margin of one point. Miles Brewer played outstanding squash as well, beating three talented players en route to a third place finish in his division. #1 Jay Dolan was also impressive, pulling off an unexpected win over a boy from Exeter who many felt was one of the top players in the entire tournament. Overall, the team finished 6th out of 16 teams, the best any Tabor team has done in Coach Lloyd’s twelve years coaching squash at Tabor. It truly was a great weekend to be a Seawolf! Great job all season, Tabor squashers.
