The ancient Greeks and Romans still live, politically as an example and culturally as an inspiration. Indeed, the study of the Latin and Greek languages, literature and history has been for over a thousand years a traditional and seminal part of growing up in any Western society. Apart from the intrinsic importance of the literature, students of the classical languages learn to communicate effectively, to understand more exactly the structure of their own and other European languages, to learn accuracy of expression and to appreciate the elegance of clear thinking.
