Coaches:
Gerry Dineen
A full time teacher in the math department, Gerry Dineen has been at the helm of the Seawolves softball program since 2003. Gerry is also the head coach of the Tabor Boys’ Hockey team. A 1989 graduate of Middlebury College, Gerry has been coaching and teaching in the prep school ranks for the past 17 years. A captain and an All-New England defenseman for the Middlebury ice hockey team under legendary coach Bill Beaney, Gerry was also a standout collegiate baseball player. He played for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod Baseball League and in 1989 was awarded the Most Outstanding Two Sport Athlete Award for his contributions to both programs while at Middlebury College. After college, Gerry traveled to Europe to play professional hockey. Gerry, his wife Leanne and their three children (Meghan, Brett and Emily), live on campus and are very involved in community activities in the area. He can be contacted at gdineen@taboracademy.org.
Ginger Walsh
Coach Ginger Walsh began teaching chemistry and psychology at Tabor Academy in 2006. Ginger is a graduate of Deerfield Academy (class of 1999) and Bates College (class of 2003), where she studied Biology and earned a B.S. At Bates, she was a pitcher on the softball team for four years. In 2006 she received a Masters Degree in Public Health from Boston University. This fall Virginia coached JV B Girls Soccer, and she looks forward to working with the Tabor softball team this spring! She now lives off campus in Marion with her husband.
Heather Burns
Coach Heather Burns is the Director of Student Activities and an Ancient World History teacher. After pitching on the 1998 New Hampshire State Champion team, she caught the eye of then coach Dick Marr and became a Tabor Academy Seawolf (Class of ¹01). She spent 2 years, one as captain, pitching for Tabor. She then went on to the University of Richmond (¹06) where she received her BA in American Studies and received her teaching degree. Heather is very excited to return for her second season as a coach for the Seawolves Softball program. Heather now lives as sophomore boys dorm parent in Knowlton House.

About the Team

With a talented group of veteran players, the 2008 Tabor softball team began the season with high expectations and worked hard to achieve at the highest possible level in both practices and games. Senior co-captains Kelly Foley and Jackie Donahue led the way and the team proved to be a very tough opponent with outstanding pitching, a relentless offense, and solid defense at every position. Practices were fun and productive, the team chemistry was great, and each player improved significantly over the course of the year. Finishing with a 13-3 record, the Seawolves defeated some very impressive clubs. Highlights of the season would have to include the team’s 11 game win streak, the sweeping of Andover and Exeter in impressive fashion at the Andover Jamboree, and a nail-biting 1-0 victory versus a talented Brooks team at the Big East Tourney where the team earned a number one seed. With only four seniors graduating and a very strong core of talented young players returning, the future continues to be very bright for Tabor softball.
