Course Listing
Department Faculty

The department seeks to provide students with an appreciation of the elegance and power of mathematics. The course work develops their skills and their ability to reason through the acquisition of manipulative and problem solving techniques and through an understanding of concepts. Students are encouraged to take risks. Those who demonstrate special abilities are steered toward honors level and Advanced Placement work. The secondary school years serve as a transition from the manipulative to the conceptual. At Tabor, the sequence of math courses is designed to assist in making that transition. Once a student has demonstrated mastery of elementary algebra and geometry skills, increasingly sophisticated concepts are encountered. Throughout the process, the students are expected to investigate and to discover by utilizing available technology.
