Simply stated, Blackboard is a web-based data base, that creates a Networked Learning Environment for our school. A Networked Learning Environment (NLE) enables any student or teacher to step beyond traditional courses to a more expansive online learning experience.
Tabor Academy maintains its own Blackboard server and manages its own Blackboard web site and database.
Currently, 75% of our faculty utilize the Blackboard technology.
It’s clear that today’s e-Learning challenge involves far more than simply moving courses online. From libraries and labs to alumni and parents, the facets of an educational community are far-reaching. In order to incorporate each into a rich, multi-dimensional online learning experience, it’s necessary to develop and maintain an NLE.
Using Blackboard enables our students or teachers to access any learning resource at any time or place to:
» View instructional content
» Collaborate with other students and educators
» Evaluate academic performance
» Achieve their educational objectives
As simple as a lecturer’s class or as complex as a global web of instructors collaborating on a new curriculum, this network of networks creates unlimited possibilities for students and faculty alike.
Far beyond the limitation of books, bricks and mortar, Blackboard’s Academic Suite provides a powerful platform for all of the essential interdependent features, functions and services that make a true Networked Learning Environment.
