Coaches:
Gerry Dineen
A full time teacher in the math department, Gerry Dineen has been at the helm of the Seawolves hockey program for nine seasons. During this stretch, his teams have compiled an impressive 133-67-19 record and have advanced to the prestigious Division I New England Tournament three times. Gerry has also been the head coach of the Tabor Softball team for the past five years. A 1989 graduate of Middlebury College, Gerry has been coaching and teaching in the prep school ranks for the past 17 years. Before coming to Tabor in 1999, he taught mathematics and was the head hockey coach at both Vermont Academy (’91-‘95) and the Brooks School (’96-’99) leading teams to five New England tournament births. A captain and an All-New England defenseman for the Middlebury ice hockey team under legendary coach Bill Beaney, Gerry was also a standout collegiate baseball player. He played for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod Baseball League and in 1989 was awarded the Most Outstanding Two Sport Athlete Award for his contributions to both programs while at Middlebury College. After college, Gerry traveled to Europe to play professional hockey and was the top scoring defensemen in the Belgian Tier I league in 1989-90. Gerry, his wife Leanne and their three children (Meghan 13, Brett 10, and Emily 6), live on campus and are very involved in community activities in the area. Coach Dineen can be contacted at gdineen@taboracademy.org.
Dick Muther
Coach Muther has been behind the bench for many years and has had the good fortune to work with many talented Tabor hockey players both past and current. In the fall, Coach Muther oversees the boys’ soccer program and coached lacrosse as well at the start of his coaching career. Currently the Athletic Director and mathematics teacher, Mr. Muther lives with his family in Heath House Dormitory.

About the Team

The 2007-08 Boys’ Varsity Hockey Team had a number of talented veteran players and a fine group of newcomers ready to fill the voids created through graduation. After struggling through the first month of the season, the team came together and played extremely well in the second half of the season. A huge road win at Cushing started the group’s impressive 9-4-0 run which included an exciting Travis Roy Cup victory over St. Sebastian’s in front of lively home crowd. Finishing the year with a solid 12-11-1 record after a slow 3-8-1 start is a testament to the hard work and improvement displayed by the group and each player. The team returns many talented players and should be poised for an impressive campaign next season.
