2007-2008 Summary: Led by seniors Kelly Foley, Brittany Usmail, Jena LeBlanc, Jackie Donahue, Ariel Leitao and Jenny Brown, the Girls Varsity Ice Hockey team enjoyed an outstanding season that had numerous highlights and exciting moments.
Earning a New England Playoff berth for the fourth time in the past five seasons, the team finished the regular season with a 15-4-2 record and ranked #4 in New England. Named First Team All-New England for the second straight year, Foley led the team in assists and points, Haley Frade led the team in goals, and Caroline English and Taylor Craig set career highs in points.
Junior Steph Ciampa was once again one of the best goalies in the league, and LeBlanc, Usmail, Katie Faucher and Jill Hoban proved to be a formidable defense in front of her. Highlights included two victories over Cushing for the first time in the programıs history, additional wins over playoff-bound teams Brewster, Choate, and Berkshire, and the thrilling double-overtime victory over Westminster in the New England Tournament. With thirteen returning players, the future continues to be bright for the program.

Mr. Heavey says...
John Heavey - Academic credentials: B.A. John Hopkins University, M.L.S. Harvard University
Responsibilities at Tabor: Chair of the English dept.; dormparent of New House; direct either the winter musical or one of the fall shows each year; coordinate the spring one-acts
Most memorable Tabor moment? Hm...that's a tough one because I have several. However, one of them was certainly watching my eight-year old son Sam act in the muscial "Tommy" (which I directed). A year later he also appeared in the musical, "Mame." Interestingly, I haven't been able to get him back on the Tabor stage since then.
What has it been watching one of your own children go through Tabor? It's been incredibly gratifying for me to see how well Sam has been taught, coached, mentored, advised, and guided by my colleagues. I am forever gratfeful to the Tabor community for all they have given to Sam.
What student qualities make for the strongest Tabor experience? Industriousness coupled with risk-taking. Students who maximize their talents through hard work and who are also willing to get outside their comfort zone get the most out of Tabor.
Advice for a new student? Never underestimate what you can discover about yourself by getting outside your comfort zone. If you've never acted, audition for a show. If you've never sung, take mixed chorus. If you've never rowed, go out for crew. If you've never played football or run cross country, try it!
